北欧のデザインを知ろう!第2弾-Scandinavian Design Stories

こんにちは。
前回に引き続き、今回はMax Bill(マックス・ビル)をご紹介します。

Max Billはスイスの建築家・インダストリアルデザイナーです。
チューリッヒの美術工芸学校で彫金を学んだ後、建築家のル・コルビジェの影響を受けモダン建築を志しました。
その後ドイツに渡り、美術工芸学校「バウハウス」にて創業者であるグロピウスやカンディンスキーのもとでデザインを学びました。
バウハウスは産業芸術を目指し、その理念はモダニズムデザインに大きな影響を与えていましたが、ナチスにより廃校されてしまいます。全盛期のバウハウスで学んだ彼は、バウハウス最後の巨匠とも言われています。

また、彼は建築だけでなくプロダクト、グラフィック、インテリア等の広い領域で活躍していました。
彼の機能主義的な産業芸術を追求した、必要最小限のデザインが現代モダンデザインの原点となり、今日のデザイン史を作り上げたデザイナーの一人です。






ドイツの名門時計メーカーJUNGHANS(ユンハンス)社の依頼によりデザインした時計。





Following the last time, second designer we would like to introduce you today is Max Bill, an architecture and product designer from Switzerland.
After majored in engraving at design school in Zurich, he aimed at Modern architectural design  influenced by an architecture Le Corbusier.
Afterwards, he studied design at “Bauhaus” an art school in Germany, under its founder Walter Gropius and a painter Wassily Kandinsky.
He is said to be one of the greatest masters from Bauhaus, as the school was in its heyday when he studied there.

Max Bill did a wide variety of works not only with architects, but also with products, graphic and interior designs.
He is one of the most important designers who contributed to build the today’s design history with his design which he pursued the functionalism and industrial arts. His minimal design is the base of the current modern design.
